10 Common Mistakes Women Make While Wearing A Lace Front Wig!
November 22, 2016
If you have never worn lace front wigs and you don’t learn how to wear this beautiful and natural style correctly, you can actually make many mistakes. When you take time out to learn about different cap styles and how to wear them, or how not to wear them, you can ensure a more positive experience the first time you wear your lace wig. You can also help make it last longer!
Lace Front Wigs
are not just for people who have lost their hair or are experiencing some hair loss. Many people who still have their own beautiful hair choose to wear wigs to change up their style or to enhance their looks.
Many well-known celebrities like Beyonce, even everyday people, wear wigs in addition to their own natural hair to create exceptional styles. While the majority of mistakes made when wearing wigs are made by men and women who have never worn a lace wig before, anyone can succumb to these easy-to-make mistakes.
- It’s important to wrap up your own hair completely close to the scalp, otherwise, the wig will be noticeable. Don’t leave loose ends hanging that can fall out or sneak underneath your cap.
- Be careful not to cut the lace front too close to the hairline because the hair will fall off. The Lace Front needs to be cut 1 ½- 2 inches from the hairline for the best results. If the Lace Front has been cut off incorrectly, the hair turns brittle and will no longer look like natural hair.
- You’ll want to make sure to cut the hairline correctly, otherwise, it does not look like a natural hairline, which is what people love about the lace front wig most. If you don’t know how to cut the Lace Front or how to put it on go to a Professional hairstylist that knows.
- Many First time users apply the wrong glue to their Lace Front. Please be advised that the right glue needs to be applied, and make sure that is dried completely it can take up to 15 minutes for the procedure to be completed.
- Don’t miss out on properly caring for your wig. In order to keep your lace front in excellent condition, you need to wash and condition the hair regularly…but not too often.
- Make sure that you choose the right color for your wig. We have a great guide on how to choose the right color wig.
- If you get a wig that has too much density will make your head feel heavy and uncomfortable and it will be obvious that you’re wearing a Lace Front. At the time of purchase, please make sure that you have in mind how much density you want to have in your wig, or consider having an experienced stylist thin it out.
- A common mistake is finding a lace front wig that is not well-made and the nylon mesh doesn’t match the wig cap. Be sure to pay close attention to the wig that you’re purchasing to ensure your look stays natural.
- Just because lace front wigs look natural, doesn’t mean that they are. Be careful about heat styling even the most natural-looking synthetic hair. There are plenty of heat resistant synthetic wigs out there!
- The final most common mistake that people tend to make is not storing their wigs correctly. You should wash every 6-8 wears and store your wig on a wig stand or in a specialty wig box.
These are common mistakes, but they don’t have to be! If you have questions once you get your wig, there are many professional stylists out there who specialize in styling and fitting wigs that can also help!
